IN THE BEGINNING THE WORD WAS
Awhile back I came across a quote that said "I was born to be somebody". Whilst that seems positive it has that slight incantation of negativity to it and so I changed it up as an affirmation to self that "I Am Somebody". I tell myself this every day! We have purpose, we are special and we do belong! We are all Worthy. I know it’s not in the falling down but in the getting up we find our Success in Life. The Power in the "I AM" is also found in perspective!
“Don’t
let people disrespect you. My Mom says don’t open the door to the devil.
Surround yourself with positive people” – Cuba Gooding, Jr.
My name is Maria Sheridan I was born in Liverpool England on the 15th of December 1966 to May and Michael Sheridan, insisting on coming into the world feet first, however this not being the traditional route to take, the doctors rushed mum down to the theatre therefore I was brought into the world through Emergency C-Section, (Mum always recons this is why I always land on my feet). :-) ITS TRUE I DO XX
My Mum and dad lost
three children in between Miracle number two for them, My Younger Sister Julia
Margaret Sheridan (now Jones) born in 1971 a light in all our lives.
Growing
up in Liverpool in the 60s and 70s was not easy especially because my family
are Irish. My Mum was a Nurse in Princes Park Geriatric Hospital my Dad worked
with his brothers for a while in their own window and contract cleaning
business, then he branched out on his own for a while before coming back to
Ireland.
Life
for me was fine in my Infant school, I was such a mischievous creative child,
always talking, always discovering and always in trouble, that continued into
Primary school ONLY my enthusiasm for life was hindered by me being bullied. (I
will come back to this in a Later Post)
In
Primary School the teacher’s one in particular Mrs. Coffey, would say I was
talkative, couldn't stay still, and could not write an essay but wrote
Epistles, I was part of the School Choir and enjoyed the competitions with
other schools! I find that part of my life particularly funny and interesting looking back as I see how
that has shaped what I’m working towards doing today.
I
love to talk and give presentations, I love helping people, I find people
and how they function fascinating, I love to write and express myself and share
information, it’s all a part of who I am and what I love about myself.
In
1978 we immigrated to Ireland and I was not sorry I was elated, no more bullies "I thought", no more fear "I thought". Growing up in Ireland was a
whole other experience, you see no matter where you go until you learn the lesson it
stays with you! I wasn't sure at the time what I could possibly learn
from experience, that realisation was to come much further
down the road.
